Welcome to collection online of the Franz-Liszt-Museum of the Municipality of Bayreuth

The Franz-Liszt-Museum has been located in the last residence of the pianist, conductor, and composer which is located directly near the Wahnfried House since 1993. Franz Liszt lived here during his stays in Bayreuth and died on 31 July 1886. The exhibition materially consists of the Liszt Collection of the Munich pianist Ernst Burger bought by the Municipality of Bayreuth in 1988 and comprises portraits and documents about Liszt’s life and work as well as manuscripts and utensils of his personal property.

The exhibits have been professionally photographically documented in fall 2009 and the collection has been recorded in a data base within the scope of an unpaid traineeship. The museum will present the major part of the permanent exhibition out of this data base on the occasion of Franz Liszt’s 200th birthday as collection online.

Collection online will be a further special instrument for making the inventory of the museum accessible to a big, international audience. First only the objects of the collection module (pictures and three-dimensional objects) will be visible, information about the performing artists as well as continuative bibliography about the individual exhibits. Manuscripts, books, and notes are not available at the moment and are supposed to be supplemented at a later point in time. Highlights of the collection will be presented and described in detail on the homepage. The users will be invited for researching in the collection by means of an index or with a full-text search. You will find help under the menu item “search help”.

You will be able to store certain objects in a portfolio and to watch them within the scope of the running session.
